Lake Sinclair Fishing Report – August 2024

GON Staff | August 1, 2024

Sinclair: Level: 1.3 feet below 340. Temp: High 80s. Clarity: From muddy to light stain depending on location. Clear water is pretty consistent toward the dam.

Bass: Karl Pingry reports that Ed at Lakeside Chevron says that his No. 1 bait of choice is a ChatterBait in the grass. Where you find muddy water, a chartreuse-and-white spinnerbait with turtleback or Colorado blades is working, as well as a Slobberknocker. Fishing docks halfway back in the coves is working with an Ol’ Monster worm in black emerald, junebug red or candy bug.  A follow-up bait is a shaky head with a Zoom Magnum Shakey Head worm in junebug or green pumpkin, depending on water color. Several crankbaits are working during the day or in the night tournaments. A Little Earl No. 2 has just been reintroduced and is working well on Sinclair right now. Other crankbaits that Ed mentioned include a jointed No. 7 Shad Rap in clown, a black Bandit 200 and a Frittside crankbait. Last but not least, a black popping frog is a great topwater bait whether you’re in the grass or not. For August, expect the pattern to stay the same. Ed and several guys who have fished the lake for years all say the muddier the lake, the shallower and better the bass fishing is. As long as the heavy rains hit every few days, that rule will hold. The lures may change, but fish the grass any time. Fishing topwater early, and fishing the docks once the sun is up is a good rule of thumb. See Ed at Lakeside Chevron for up-to-date reports and safe and easy parking.”
