Hunt Story
The story of “THOR”. This was a deer that popped up on my trail camera out of nowhere and seriously kept me up at night. Being able to hunt a deer of this caliber was a blessing. He had day-lighted in the pictures, up until I started hunting him. Words can’t describe how much time and effort went into chasing this deer. From rushing home from work, to pulling 12-hour full day sits on weekends, I desperately wanted to do my best to get the opportunity to see him in person. Days went by without seeing deer, squirrels, birds, or anything and the trail cameras revealed he had gone nocturnal. As every hunter knows, this was very frustrating, but that’s also why it’s called hunting. All of a sudden on a random evening, 15 minutes before shooting light ended, I could hear walking inside the tree line. It was the last 7 minutes of daylight, and he decided to make his appearance in the back left corner of the food plot. Seconds went by, but they felt like hours and he slowly scanned the food plot and made his way towards the stand. He gave me a perfect broadside shot and I couldn’t pass him up. After the shot we waited an hour to track him, only to find that he ran 40 yards before he expired. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to harvest a deer of this magnitude. I am extremely thankful and blessed to have hunted one of God’s beautiful creations. Thank you God, Family, Friends, and my Girlfriend for sticking it out with me!
