Hunt Story
We have had this buck on camera since he was in velvet. He had been particularly territorial in this area for the past several weeks. The only problem is he shows up around 3 a.m. and hangs around until mid-morning. We had been careful to avoid the area to not disrupt his schedule leading up to this. We walked about a mile to the stand and got settled in around 5:30 a.m. By 7:00 we had a doe in some thick brush about 75 yards away and by 7:20 he stepped in front of her in a small clearing. At that moment I heard the safety click from Lily's 7mm-08 and I knew she was going to shoot because he was giving her a broadside shot and was looking away from us. He dropped where he stood. While we were celebrating, he popped back up and started walking off into the tall grass! I told her to take another shot if she had one. He laid back down and after waiting another 20 minutes we got down and found him 15 yards from where she shot him. It was an incredible father/daughter moment. When we get this 11-pointer back from the taxidermist, my buck is coming off the fireplace and her's is going up and I could not be happier.
