Hunt Story

My dad and I were hunting the family farm in Carroll County. We were sitting in a junction of two different strips of hardwoods separated by cattle pastures. It is great spot to catch deer traveling between a couple larger blocks of timber. We got set up around 4:30 and had only been sitting for about 30 minutes when our first deer of the evening, a spike, fed through the white oaks. About 30 minutes before dark, my dad did a rattling sequence and it was only a few minutes later when this buck appeared, looking for a fight. He offered a 45-yard shot and my 6.5 Creedmoor found its mark. The buck made it 50 yards into the pasture before expiring. He is my largest buck to date!
