Hunt Story

This was only the third time in the woods the entire season. I had no expectation of seeing anything let alone a buck. It was the break of dawn, just a hint of light and my eyes where drawn towards the white oak tree. I kept seeing a figure grow larger then smaller, I just figured my eyes were playing tricks in me. I pulled up the weather app to see what time the official sunrise was and again my eyes where drawn to that figure. It was about 7 a.m. and that figured was in fact a deer. I was completely surprised. I put my scope up and I immediately got the shakes. I gathered my self and watched him as he feed behind the oak tree. He finally took a few steps and I could see his rack protruding from the side of the tree. He took a few more steps and then his paces picked up. I made a bleep call with my mouth and he stopped, looked around and I put the cross hairs behind his shoulder and he fell right there. This was one of my top 3 hunts ever. I thought, due to work that this year I wouldn't be able to put any meat in the freezer but with the good Lord help my family now has a wonderful bounty of venison. I give thanks to Him and to my friend Greg for giving me this opportunity.
