Hunt Story

It started to rain just as i got to the stand. As soon as I had good legal shooting light, I made one long loud bellow on my grunt call. Within 10 minutes a doe and fawn came out about 200 yards away pursued by a young 6-point. He chased them around a little as they all fed. Then they all looked behind them and got nervous when a small spike joined them. The 6-point then chased the doe and fawn out of site, pursued by the spike. It was quiet for about half an hour and another spike made the rounds and meandered out of site. At 7:45 I heard a loud crack in a thicket directly in front of the stand. As I was wondering if that was a limb falling or a deer, this buck jumped out of the thicket at 20 yards walking quickly across a small opening to another thicket. I got my gun on him and grunted by mouth to stop him just as he got to the other thicket. One shot dropped him right there. My son was hunting nearby, and after a couple of texts he decided to abandon his hunt and give dad some help. A fun hunt shared with friends and family.
