Hunt Story

I got into my stand around 3:30 pm that afternoon. I started hunting this stand because opening day of bow season on the way to my favorite stand I crossed paths with 3 shooter bucks that trotted across the trail I walked in on before day light. Second day of season I was scouting the area to find out their pattern and began hanging trail cams. All season I've been patient letting the smaller racked bucks walk to keep the area undisturbed from tracking deer that were wounded or the noise of a shot. Iv'e had this deer on camera all season but all at night. The day of the hunt I heard him chasing a doe in the planted pines. He chased the doe past my stand 50 yards from me in the pines but couldn't see them. They kept chasing past until finally crossing my shooting lane at 200 yards. The doe ran wide open across the lane the buck stopped for a second in the lane so I fired. After shooting the deer I found blood but lost it after a few yards, so being unsure and not wanting to lose my buck I backed out and used the GON dial a dog. I called Marty Edge and he was out of town with family but contacted his neighbor Troy Phillips to bring his dog bust out. Buster came out and within 5 minutes found my deer 38 yards from where I shot him in some thick brush.
