Hunt Story

It was the morning of opening day of the third season I have been hunting. I had a good feeling today was going to be the day I killed my first deer. I got to the stand a little late, around 8 a.m. It was a clear but very windy morning. I had been in the stand a little over two hours and had not heard or seen anything. It was getting close to the time I was going to meet up with the other people I was hunting with, so I was checking my phone to see when to head out. As I looked up from my phone, there he was straight in front of me. I was able to get my gun up and get settled in the first shooting lane. As he got into position I attempted to get his attention, but with the wind I was not loud enough for him to hear me. He continued to walk into a thick area where I lost him. I was hoping that he would keep walking toward my next shooting lane, so I set up. He did just that and walked into the prefect spot about 70 yards away. This time I yelled at him. He stopped and I was able to get a shot off just behind the shoulder with my 44. He kicked and ran up the hill. After the shaking stopped, and my fiance got to my stand and we found him not 40 yards from where I shot. I could not be happier that my first ever deer was this big and beautiful buck.
