Kid Leads To Hunter Safety Class

As a Sunday School teacher, I teach my youth to share Christ with their friends—kids listen to kids! It works the same way when promoting hunting.

Samantha Fincher, 9, of Eatonton, killed her first deer last year while hunting with her mom Stephanie in Hancock County. The first kill lit a fire under this young lady. She decided that she was not only ready to take her hunter-safety course but that she wanted to get some other kids involved, too.

“I called our local DNR officer David Allen and asked if he could teach a class,” said Stephanie. “He agreed, and we had a group of 13 ranging from ages 8 to 18 years old.”

The class was hosted March 8 in Hancock County at the Harper Valley Hunting Club’s clubhouse, and all 13 kids passed.

“Later that night, Samantha said she was so happy that we were able to give them the opportunity to take the class, and it was a huge success,” said Stephanie.

So, one girl brought 12 youth hunters into the sport. Let me encourage you to go and do likewise.
